Aqualyx is an injectable fat loss treatment. It is a gel-based solution, derived from cholanic acid, which is produced by our bile duct to help up break down fats.
It is licensed for use in the UK for localised or spot removal of fat from areas such as the chin, knees, hips, thighs or under the buttocks and is generally regarded as safe. It is not a weight loss solution and is suitable for smaller, stubborn pockets of fat, not large area fat reduction.
This solution was developed by Professor Pasquale Motolese, president of the Italian Society of Aesthetics and Medicine, and has been in use since 2009.
Aqualyx works by breaking down cell membranes to liquify the fat cell, destroying it permanently, releasing the lipids that are then eliminated naturally through the lymphatic system. The procedure consists of a set of injections, administered 3-4 weeks apart, injected directly into the targeted area.
Aqualyx can be used on the following areas:
Stomach (upper and lower)
Love handles
Arms
Chin & jowls
Flanks & waist
Inner and outer thighs
Underarms & armpits
Under-bra fat
Knees
Pelvic mound
30 - 45 mins per area
A reduction in fat deposits can be seen after just one treatment, however between one to four sessions may be required for optimal results.
After a consultation your therapist will mark out the area of concern in a grid like manner. Aqualyx is then mixed with L-c (anaesthetic) before injection for greater comfort to the client. A number of injections are administered per area to ensure the area if fully covered. The small needles allow small areas to be tackled effectively such as double chin or jowls. After the procedure has finished the area will be cleaned, and aftercare advise given.
DOWN TIME
As Aqualyx a non-surgical solution it means there is no downtime and no general Anaesthetic risks.
There are some temporary side effects, which include bruising, swelling, redness and irritation in the injection area. Sometimes it may feel a slightly tender to touch, numb or itchy but these side effects usually reside after 1-3 days.
